Mount Foster trails improvements – Timeline update

In order to fully honor our commitment to a safe and respectful development of Mount Foster, Appalachian Corridor is announcing an updated timeline and postponing the official opening of the new trail system on Mount Foster to the summer of 2022.

Since the beginning of the year, major development work has been underway over a distance of more than four kilometers on this ecologically rich site. Constraints caused by COVID 19 and challenges in hiring seasonal employees have motivated the adjustment of the schedule.

It is essential for us to deliver on our greatest promise concerning this enchanting site: to restore access to the mountain, and to do so in accordance with the rules of the art of trail development and conservation of natural environments.

This additional time will allow us to put in place a trail system that meets our high standards of respect for nature, sustainability and safety for the hikers who will come to enjoy the site.

In the meantime, those who wish to access the summit of Mount Foster and the Scout Tower can do so via the existing trail network of our partner, Les Sentiers de l’Estrie.
For all information and access to this network, visit: www.lessentiersdelestrie.qc.ca.

The entire Appalachian Corridor team thanks the community for its extraordinary collaboration and participation in this major project.

We look forward to keep you informed of the inauguration of the trails next year!
