Bolton-Est, Quebec (February 11, 2021) – Appalachian Corridor is pleased to announce the perpetual protection of 124.58 hectares in Bolton-Est. The property is located in a mountainous area on the northern slope of Mont Place and contributes to the protection of a large forest area of over 26 km2 in the region. Its conservation will help protect the habitat of several species at risk in Quebec and Canada.

Appalachian Corridor celebrates its 15th anniversary. At the origin of the organization, three nature lovers – ecologist Louise Gratton, conservation biologist Francine Hone and the late Terri Monahan, project manager. These three women created and implemented an ambitious conservation project to protect the natural corridor in the Appalachians of southern Quebec. What was then called the Appalachian Corridor Project came to being in response to growing pressures on the territory.
