Mathieu Vaillancourt

Project Manager – Sustainable Land Use Planning

Passionate about nature and everything related to its complexity, Mathieu is joining the Appalachian Corridor team as a project manager for sustainable land use planning. In his free time, he observes the flora and fauna of his region and those of the areas he explores with his family.

After nearly a decade in project management in the private sector, Mathieu shifted his focus to environmental biology. He first worked as a field biologist with agricultural producers, where he conducted biodiversity assessments, wetland characterizations, and ecological restoration plans, before working as an environmental advisor and inspector for a municipality in the Estrie region. He is currently pursuing a DESS in environmental management at the University of Sherbrooke, with the intention of continuing on to a master’s degree.

He is pleased to put his experience in local government to work for conservation and hopes to give biodiversity an increasingly prominent role in land-use planning.
