Linda Ghanimé

Secretary

Ms. Linda Ghanimé has been active in the fields of the environment and sustainable development for some 40 years. A graduate of McGill University in biogeography and holder of a master’s degree in environmental studies from the Université du Québec à Montréal, she began her career in the private sector as an environmental specialist and later as a project director. From 1991 to 1994, she coordinated a toxic waste disposal program for the Government of Quebec. She subsequently worked at her own small consulting firm specializing in environmental assessment and management.

While working for the United Nations from 2001 to 2010, initially based in New York, Linda served as an advisor on integrating environmental considerations into the policies of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as well as those of numerous member countries. She then worked at the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and subsequently carried out evaluation assignments for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Linda served on the commission of the Quebec Bureau of Public Hearings on the Environment (BAPE) regarding the Metropolitan Express Network (REM).

A resident of Magog, Linda has been active in environmental issues with the Association des Propriétaires des Villas de l’Anse and has served on the board of directors of Memphrémagog Conservation Inc. (MCI).

Since 2017, she has served on the Appalachian Corridor Awards Committee.
