Sutton & Potton Township, January 14, 2025 – Our organization is proud to announce that the fundraising campaign to protect the Forêt Brière has almost reached its target. Thanks to the generosity of our many donors, we have raised over 98% of the funds needed to protect this priceless treasure from development. The project is worth $16.4 million; today, only $225,000, or less than 2% of the project’s total value, stands between us and achieving our goal.

• This 540-hectare natural gem, located in the southern Quebec municipalities of Sutton and Potton, is part of the iconic Northern Green Mountains. It plays a key role in promoting biodiversity and ecological connectivity for the entire region. (“Ecological connectivity” refers to the ability of species to move about, and natural processes to flow freely.) Saving this forest is crucial to protecting a rare, strategic habitat that is home to several at-risk wildlife and plant species.

The deadline for reaching our fundraising goal is March 31, 2025. If our final push is successful, this crucial piece of land, which is so important for the ecological health of the entire region, will remain in its natural state for generations to come.

• This project is aligned with global commitments to protect 30% of the world’s land and ocean by 2030.
