The Projet de partenariat pour les milieux naturels blows out its first candle!

In order to make further gains in the creation of a network of protected areas in Quebec, the ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatique awarded a $50 million grant a year ago to NCC and its major partners: Appalachian Corridor, Nature-Action Québec and the Fondation de la faune du Québec. This was a historic agreement and a great challenge since the Québec government’s contribution ought to be matched by at least an equivalent amount.

Thanks to the collaboration with our partners, affiliated members, but also thanks to the generosity of individuals, landowners and businesses, this first year of the Projet de partenariat pour les milieux naturels has already resulted in major advances in conservation.

At a glance:

  • 21 acquisition PROJECTS completed by 6 PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS
  • 31 SPECIES at risk affected by habitat protection
  • 1,000 HECTARES (2471.05 acres) protected in southern QUEBEC
