Marc-André Poirier
Conservation advisor
Marc-André joins the Appalachian Corridor team as a conservation advisor. His main role will be to support private landowners interested in conserving ecosystems in the Northern Green Mountains.
With a bachelor’s degree in ecology and a master’s in environmental management, Marc-André has held a variety of positions related to the protection of Quebec’s ecosystems. In particular, he has acted as scientific manager and coordinator for other conservation organizations such as the Fiducie de conservation des écosystèmes de Lanaudière and SÉPAQ. He has also held other positions in biology and the environment at federal and municipal levels. In his spare time, he also worked as a geomatics technician and administrator for the conservation organization Horizon-Nature Bas-Saint-Laurent.
His commitment to making a difference to protect natural environments and help maintain quality of life over the long term motivates him to take action every day. He believes that accessibility to nature for any local community and the greening of cities are essential to well-being, and this is one of the reasons why he frequently takes part in outdoor activities. Finally, he is convinced that teamwork and inter-organizational cooperation will contribute significantly to achieving global conservation goals.
